A Song For Matt

Musicians say goodbye to Golay with benefit concert

"We sing our songs and stay in time
We stay in tune and try to rhyme
What will come next we will try to find
The words to fit inside that one last line"

The above lyrics come form Matt Golay's song "The Last Song," fit the spirit that will bring at least nine bands together at the Algoma Club to honor their friend and fellow performer who died Feb. 5 of a heart defect known as a myocardial bridge at the age of 30.

Tribute a Musical Celebration of Golay's Life

Friends, family and fellow musicians will gather Sunday to pay tribute to Matthew Golay, an Oshkosh musician and band manager who died of a heart defect on Feb. 5.

"The funeral cost close to $11,000," said David Rause, one of the tribute organizers. "The friends want to do something for the family."

Rause was one of Golay's closest friends and his musical partner over the last three years of Tuesday night open mics at the Paper City Pub in Neenah.
